DOMINIC PLUCINSKI, MD FACC RPVI
Dr. Plucinski graduated from Loyola University of Chicago, Illinois
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Honors, Summa Cum
Laude. He received the President's Medal as valedictorian of his
class. He earned his medical degree (MD) from the College of
Medicine, the University of Illinois at the Medical Center in Chicago,
Illinois, as a James Scholar in Independent Research.
After graduating from the University of Illinois, he completed a
residency in Internal Medicine, a Fellowship in Cardiovascular
Diseases (Cardiology), and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology
at Northwestern University and Northwestern Memorial Hospital in
Chicago, Illinois. He served as a Chief Medical Resident, Instructor
in Medicine, and Chief Fellow. His research interests included the
correlation between coronary angiography and pathologic findings; and
the hemodynamic and neurohormonal effects of digoxin in heart failure.
Following his fellowship in interventional cardiology, he practiced
interventional cardiology at North Memorial Hospital as a partner in
Cardiovascular Consultants from June 1984 through 2006. He founded
and directed the North Heart Team Stat intervention program in acute
myocardial infarction. He served as chairman of the Cardiovascular
Coordinating Committee and established the NMH.CVC Percutaneous
Coronary Intervention (PCI) Registry. He presented the results of the
Registry at numerous major cardiovascular conferences including the
meetings of the American Heart Association, the American College of
cardiology, and Trans Catheter Therapeutics (TCT).
In January of 2007, Dr. Plucinski joined the Minnesota Heart Clinic
which merged with the University of Minnesota Physicians in October of
2008. His practice focused on the prevention and treatment of
cardiovascular disorders across the full spectrum of the
cardiovascular system, including the heart, arteries, and veins. He
founded and served as the medical director of the UMP Heart Vascular
Laboratory, Vascular Clinic, Vein Treatment Program, and
Neurosonography Lab.
In July 2016 Dr. Plucinski founded an independent medical practice to
promote ideal cardiovascular health, specializing in cardiovascular
medicine and total vein care. His practice encompasses cardiovascular
medicine consultations, stress testing, echocardiography, arterial and
venous vascular ultrasound, neurosonography (transcranial Doppler),
counseling in lifestyle modifications, pharmacologic treatment of
cardiovascular disorders, and management of advanced cardiovascular
disease. The health care professionals of Northern Cardiovascular
Clinic are dedicated to universal screening for a cardiovascular
disease using cardiovascular ultrasound. The practice emphasizes
therapeutic lifestyle modifications including diet and exercise in the
prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease and the
prescription of pharmacotherapy when necessary.
Dr. Plucinski is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine
in the specialty of Internal Medicine and the subspecialty of
Cardiovascular Diseases (Cardiology). He is a diplomate of the
American Board of Echocardiography. In addition, he is a Diplomate of
the American Board of Vascular Medicine and the American Board of
Venous and Lymphatic Medicine. He is a Registered Physician in
Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) and a Registered Vascular Technologist
(RVT).
